Some of the most significant changes are happening at the Magic Kingdom, where the park shut down some of its most iconic attractions earlier this summer. These closures included Tom Sawyer Island, a classic interactive playground, and Liberty Square Riverboat, an authentic steam-powered boat that took travelers around Magic Kingdom’s Rivers of America. The reason for these closures is Piston Peak.Inspired by Pixar’s Cars, Piston Peak is set to be one of Magic Kingdom’s most crucial expansions yet. It will transform the water-logged section of the park from an Americana-fueled playground to a new area ripped right out of the Cars franchise.Credit: DisneyRelated: ‘Star Wars’ Daisy Ridley Rumored To Return Alongside Ryan Gosling in ‘Starfighter’Other changes include the closure of DinoLand U.S.A. at Disney’s Animal Kingdom and the transformation of Muppets Courtyard into Monstropolis at Disney’s Hollywood Studios.
