Joe Scally etched his name into the Bundesliga history books on Saturday. The American fullback became the youngest non-German player to reach 150 career Bundesliga appearances on Saturday, logging 90 minutes in Borussia Moenchengladbach’s 0-0 draw with Wolfsburg. Scally continued to start for Eugen Polanski’s squad, who aren’t mathematically safe yet in the relegation race at the bottom half of the league standings. Scally featured aș a right wing back in the result, making his 33rd appearance of the campaign. Fellow U.S. men’s national team players Gio Reyna and Kevin Paredes also featured in the match. Reyna played 13 minutes off the bench for Gladbach while Paredes played the final seven minutes in his first appearance since February 21. After making the move from New York City FC in January 2021, Scally quickly became a key player for Gladbach. He’s made 30+ or more appearances in each of the last five seasons after jumping from Gladbach II to the first team. Gladbach are six points clear of the relegation zone with three matches left to play. Up next for Scally, Reyna and the rest of the Gladbach squad is a home date with Borussia Dortmund on May 3 before final matches against Augsburg and Hoffenheim.
