Leapers has announced the UTG Pro Extended Cocking Handle for the MP5 and MP5K, a one-piece steel replacement cocking handle designed to address ergonomics on a platform that was built with right-handed operation in mind. It is made in the USA and priced at $29.97. The handle adds 1 inch of extension over the standard unit, with a knurled nonslip surface and a QPQ nitride finish. UTG Pro describes the extended length as improving control for shooters with larger hands and supporting ambidextrous use, both of which are legitimate limitations of the original MP5 cocking handle geometry. The part weighs 1 ounce and measures 2 inches in total height and 0.5 inches in width. There is also a practical consideration for existing UTG Pro customers who have fitted one of the company's patented Monolithic M-LOK handguards to their MP5. Those handguards extend further forward than the factory unit, which shortens the effective reach of a standard cocking handle. The extended version restores the full working length, making it a functionally necessary companion part for that specific upgrade rather than an optional accessory. Compatibility covers most 9mm receiver MP5, MP5K, and clone platforms.
