A digital forensics expert from the Uganda Police Force has presented court with details of internet activity allegedly linked to murder suspect Christopher Okello Onyum, suggesting possible planning and intent ahead of the Ggaba killings. While testifying in court, digital forensic analyst Kenneth Anguru revealed that an examination of one of Okello’s mobile phones uncovered a series of concerning online searches. Among them were queries such as “gun license requirements in Uganda” and “ISIS beheading,” which investigators believe could point to a mindset or preparation related to violent acts.Anguru further testified that Okello conducted multiple Google Maps searches targeting nursery and daycare centres in different areas. Some of the locations highlighted in court included Kyanja Junior School, Matugga Pre-School, Mum’s Love Kindergarten in Semuto, Lam Kindergarten and Day Care Centre in Matugga, Golden Infant Kindergarten, and Edibet ECD and Play Centre. However, the court heard that the full list of searched locations was much longer. Presiding judge Alice Komuhangi Khauka instructed that only a summary be presented in court to save time.In addition to the location searches, forensic analysis revealed that Okello had also searched, “How many kilometres can 14 litres cover in a 2000 Toyota RAV4?,” a query prosecutors believe may be linked to a vehicle he allegedly hired before the incident.Another search, “Trip Care Car Rental,” is also suspected to be connected to the same arrangement. The prosecution continues to build its case using a combination of digital, medical, and eyewitness evidence. However, the defence has pushed back, particularly questioning how the findings should be interpreted, especially in relation to Okello’s mental state at the time of the alleged crimes.Court hears Ggaba murder suspect confessed to killing four toddlers, sought richesEarlier testimony from prosecution witness number 17, forensic biologist Barbanabas Harerimana, further strengthened the state’s case. Harerimana told court that DNA evidence linked to Okello was found on the suspected murder weapon. He presented a detailed DNA report based on biological samples collected from the crime scene. Among the exhibits brought before court was a school uniform worn by one of the victims on the day of the incident.Christopher Okello Onyum is currently facing charges related to the murder of four toddlers in Ggaba, as the trial continues to unfold with more forensic and witness evidence being examined. The post Okello googled daycare centres, violent content before Ggaba attack—court hears appeared first on MBU.
