U.S. Representative David Scott, an 80-year-old Georgia Democrat and the first Black chairman of the House Agriculture Committee, has died. Scott, first elected in 2002, was a longtime advocate for farmers, HBCUs, and veterans. His passing occurred while he was seeking reelection to his 13th term in Congress.
