Exactly! I asked in a previous thread what he real world experience was doing off-grid setups. Surely If he has been publishing a quarterly magazine for 11 years on the topic he should have plenty of experience building battery Banks, installing and connecting solar panels, getting an inverter to convert DC to AC, installing heat pumps, perhaps even small scale windmills/turbines. Has he actually done any of this? I honestly don't know but it does doesn't sound like it, especially with this latest post. If this is truly his "calling" then why isn't he out asking the members in the group who needs hands on help with design and installation? Or maintenance/upgrades as battery and solar tech have improved by leaps and bounds in the past 11 years. And even the donation request is just absurd. Let's be charitable and say he finds ten people willing to send him $20/month in perpetuity. That sounds like a pretty big ongoing cost to me given everything in the world is a subscription now, but on his end it seems like a ridiculously small amount. Even with ten people are sending $20 a month, that's $200 a month! $2,400 a year! In what world does $200/month move the financial needle one iota? He could earn $200 in two days working for $12.50/hr but I guess that would make him a "wage slave". I just can't comprehend what the finances look like for him. How many people does he really think are going to send him money every month, especially when you can buy a lifetime subscription for his magazines for only $50 one time? And that's not even to talk about the fact that he's using AI not only for the photos (which honestly I'd have no problem with) but he's using it for actual text in pdf "magazine". He puts in a couple key points and then has AI generate additional details and clean it up after running through several iterations? He does know that every LLM in existence has been shown to hallucinate "facts" very often, right? But he let's AI do the heavy lifting researching a topic he's supposed to be the expert on. It's one thing to have AI reword the exact same things that you're saying, it's another to give it a couple of "jumping off points" and then just copying and pasting the results. I thought only "low IQ people" used AI slop to write things for them
