PN Leader Alex Borg visited Maritime MT- a school which offers education and training to people so they can work in the maritime field.“The proposals drawn up by the Nationalist Party in relation to the maritime sector are favourable,” said Maritime MT according to NET News.Upon his arrival, Borg was welcomed by the company’s management, who showed him around the facilities where he met workers and students, and also observed how their operations work.During a meeting with the Leader of the Nationalist Party, Maritime MT workers shared the challenges they face as a school, including a lack of lecturers and a lack of interest in the field due to maritime careers not being sufficiently promoted in schools. This is in addition to limited access to funding schemes and stipends.Borg listed a number of proposals drawn up by the PN aimed at addressing these concerns. Borg reiterated that a government led by him would ensure that maritime courses are offered at secondary education level. He also mentioned that students who enrol to study at Maritime MT would be given an appropriate stipend. He further explained that a Nationalist government would merge Maritime MT and MCAST so that they can make use of each other’s resources. In addition, he said that under a Nationalist government, Transport Malta would be split into three main authorities focused specifically on maritime, aviation, and land.Borg added that the PN would strengthen the sector by expanding into AI, LNG, green fuels and digital shipping. Finally, he said it would also invest in lobbying within the IMO and in Brussels. For this visit Alex Borg was accompanied by candidates Ivan Castillo and Justin Schembri. What do you make of this?•
