No microphone, no problem.A heartwarming moment happened before the Buffalo Sabres’ playoff game against the Boston Bruins at the KeyBank Center on Tuesday. The Sabres are in the midst of a playoff series with the Boston BruinsGettyWith the city of Buffalo sitting just a bridge away from the Canadian border, the Sabres honor a special and mandatory pre-game tradition. Both ‘O Canada’ and the American National Anthem are sung before a game, as the closeness to the border usually drives a big fanbase.During the pre-game ceremonies of Game 5 against the Bruins, singer Cami Clune took to the ice and began signing ‘O Canada’.But, a few lines into the song, her microphone completely cut out due to a technical glitch.Thankfully, a few seconds of awkwardness were quickly diminished. The Buffalo fans stepped up, proudly belting out the rest of the anthem.Clune was handed a new microphone, and sang The Star-Spangled Banner with no issue. The Sabres would lose by a score of 2-1, forcing a Game 6 which will be played on Saturday. However, the class act from the NHL fans caught the attention of tennis star Jessica Pegula. She reposted the video on X, with the caption: “and this is the sole reason I know the Canadian National anthem by heart.”When the World no.5 is off the court, her heart always belongs to her hometown of Buffalo, and for good reason.Pegula is actually the heiress to a massive sports empire.Clune’s mic unexpectedly cut out, and Buffalo fans belted out the rest of the anthemX (formely Twitter) / @sportsnetThe Sabres would end up losing the fixture, forcing a game six of the seriesGettyIn 2011, her billionaire parents, Terry and Kim Pegula, purchased the Sabres.
