PSG's Chance Wastefulness and Set Piece Vulnerabilities

Wait 5 sec.

I think PSG's wastefulness in attack could be their downfall against Bayern tomorrow. It's not really reflected in their XG, but in both games against Liverpool, PSG had several chances to get into the box but failed to even shoot. That Nuno Mendes run in the first leg really springs to mind. I understand that they convert low XG chances like long shots from Kvara, Dembele, and Doue, but I just feel like they aren't clinical enough, especially compared to last season. And I feel like this is going to cost them a lot against Bayern, who, apart from the first game against Real, actually convert their chances into shots but not necessarily goals. Also, the set-piece aspect would be very interesting, as PSG's average height is much shorter than Bayern's. Only 2 of their outfield players are over 185 cm, while Bayern has 5 and 2 more at around 183 cm. Safonov is a good keeper with good reflexes, but is not known for his cross claiming ability. We saw how much danger Liverpool created against PSG with their set piece and aerial attacks in the second leg, even with the worst corner attack in the Prem. And Bayern is one of Europe's best corner teams, with multiple chances created and a goal scored from a corner against Real Madrid. Of course, Bayern is not without its shortcomings, especially in transitional defending against a team like PSG, but these issues have been exposed and discussed in other threads and on other sites. It just seems like not that many people are focusing on these PSG deficiencies that could absolutely change this tie. submitted by /u/Many_Ad_0526 [link] [comments]
