Prime Minister Robert Abela has unveiled another proposal as part of the Labour Party’s electoral manifesto, focusing on increased support for families of children with disabilities.Under the proposal, the carers’ grant for parents of children with severe disabilities would be doubled, bringing it in line with the full minimum wage. The measure builds on previous increases, where the grant was raised from €500 to half the minimum wage, offering financial support to parents who are often unable to work while caring for their children. In addition, parents of children with disabilities would continue to benefit from favourable tax rates until their children turn 23, and in cases of severe disability, for as long as they remain under their care. What do you make of this proposal?•
