New snake species, burrowing reed snake, have been discovered by scientists named Calamaria garoensis, in the Garo Hills of Meghalaya. The small, secretive snake was described through a collaborative Indo-Indonesian research effort. Meghalaya Chief Minister Conrad K Sangma congratulated the team, highlighting the state's rich biodiversity.
