Four Arrested As Police Bust Two Groups Linked To Series Of Home Thefts In Malta

Intensive investigations into the theft of a substantial amount of valuable items from several residential homes in recent days have led the Police to identify two separate groups allegedly involved in these thefts.Four men have been arrested, two Maltese and two Colombian nationals. The first arrests took place yesterday at around midday, when Police surrounded and arrested the two Colombians, aged 26 and 23, in St Paul’s Bay. They were the main suspects in a theft from a residence in Swieqi.Earlier today, the two Colombians were arraigned in court before Magistrate Abigail Critien, where they pleaded not guilty to the charges brought against them and were remanded in custody at the Corradino Correctional Facility.Meanwhile, later yesterday at around 5.45pm, the two Maltese men were arrested in Żejtun. They are suspected of carrying out several thefts from homes in Santa Luċija, Ħaż-Żabbar, Xgħajra, Kalkara and Ħal Tarxien.The two Maltese men, aged 51 and 41, are expected to be arraigned in court in the coming days.Police investigations are ongoing.•
