Since this morning’s garage fire in Msida, the authorities have started investigations for the cause of the incident.The incident occurred at around 9.20am in Triq il-Kunċizzjoni, when a white van exploded and burst into flames. Residents reported hearing a loud bang that shook nearby buildings shortly before the fire started.A 35-year-old man from Swieqi is in critical condition after a van explosion in Msida prompted a major emergency response earlier today. The man was in the garage when the explosion occurred. Videos sent to the newsroom show the intensity of the incident, capturing thick black smoke rising from a garage at the site. In another clip, filmed from an apartment directly above, flames can be seen reaching past a first-floor balcony.The man sustained serious injuries and was taken to hospital by ambulance for urgent treatment. The cause of the explosion remains unknown.Enemalta is currently on site to assess the damage done to wires in the area.Magistrate Monica Borg Galea has been appointed to lead an inquiry, while police investigations are ongoing.•
