SK Customs, the custom firearms division of SK Guns, has announced a limited-edition recreation of the Colt 1911 associated with Chicago Prohibition-era crime figure Al Capone, known as the "Sweetheart." The run is limited to 200 units, chambered in .45 ACP, and follows the classic Government Model configuration. The original "Sweetheart" pistol is believed to have been named as a reference to Mae Capone, Al Capone's wife. The nickname and the pistol's ornate embellishments have made it one of the more recognizable firearms connected to the Prohibition era. SK Customs describes the recreation as a blend of period-accurate detailing and custom craftsmanship. "Historically, this 1911 represents more than just Capone himself. It embodies the broader culture of the Prohibition era, where crime figures adopted both extravagance and symbolism in their possessions," said Simon Khiabani, owner and founder of SK Guns. "Today, Al Capone's 'Sweetheart' 1911 remains a fascinating artifact, merging craftsmanship, history and the mystique of one of America's most infamous figures." The recreation features detailed floral scroll engraving on both sides of the slide, mirroring the original. The left side of the slide carries traditional period-correct Colt patent roll marks, while the right side features "Colt Automatic Caliber .45" and Rampart roll marks alongside the Government Model designation on the dust cover. Each pistol is individually numbered 001 through 200 on the rear panel. Sights are custom-made to match the original, with an adjustable rear sight and a serrated partridge front sight. The front strap is checkered, and a newly designed checkered mainspring housing is installed. The frame, slide, and hardware are polished and blued. Grips are genuine vintage red deer stag, with each set featuring naturally varied bark texture.
