After an 8 Year Hiatus, SeaWorld Is Reviving Its Most Popular Summer Event

Orlando has no shortage of theme park experiences, but Discovery Cove occupies a specific and genuinely rare category within the Central Florida attraction landscape that nothing else in the market quite replicates. While Walt Disney World, Universal Orlando Resort, and SeaWorld operate on the traditional model of maximizing throughput and selling as many tickets as possible on any given day, Discovery Cove does something fundamentally different. It limits its daily attendance to a small number of guests, includes virtually everything in a single all-inclusive admission price, and creates an environment that feels more like a private tropical resort than a theme park with peak summer crowds. The lagoons, the tropical birds, the swim-through Grand Reef, the dolphin experiences, and the overall atmosphere of the park combine to produce a day that feels unlike anything else available in Orlando, and the guests who have experienced it tend to describe it as one of the most memorable days of any Central Florida vacation they have ever taken. For eight years, that experience has been limited to daytime operations, with guests leaving the park as the evening sets in and the tropical paradise empties out. That is about to change. Discovery Cove has announced that Paradise Nights, the beloved after-hours dining and entertainment event that last ran in 2018, is returning this summer on select nights from June 5 through August 8. The 2026 version is a significantly more ambitious event than what guests experienced eight years ago.Credit: Discovery CoveHow the Summer Evening UnfoldsParadise Nights is a separately ticketed summer event that begins with check-in at Discovery Cove’s Reception Center at 5:30 p.m. Guests 21 and older can verify their age to receive included beer and wine service throughout the event. Complimentary parking is included with admission. The evening then moves into happy hour at Serenity Bay from approximately 6:00 to 6:30 p.m., where guests receive a welcome cocktail or mocktail, enjoy beachside views, and have access to the Blue Bamboo Bar. Credit: Discovery CoveSelect animal ambassador appearances are part of the happy hour experience, giving guests their first animal encounter of the evening in the relaxed atmosphere of Discovery Cove after daytime operations have ended. Guests can remain on the pavement or venture onto the sand during this portion of the evening, with the front and left portions of the park accessible, though the back section, including the Grand Reef, will not be open for the event.Dinner follows at Laguna Grill, where guests are treated to an open-air buffet under the stars with assigned seating. The dinner includes all-you-care-to-enjoy food, non-alcoholic beverages, and beer and wine for guests 21 and older. Dessert offerings round out the meal, and tables vary in size, with some parties potentially combined for seating. The Live Show at the Center of ItThe centerpiece of the 2026 Paradise Nights event is a live dinner show structured around four themed acts inspired by Earth, Air, Water, and Fire. Discovery Cove describes the production as a sensory journey featuring music, movement, and performance, which positions this version of Paradise Nights as significantly more entertainment-focused than the 2018 original, which culminated in an approximately 18-minute dolphin presentation. That dolphin presentation is not part of the 2026 event, with Discovery Cove noting that the dolphins and other animals are enjoying their evening downtime during Paradise Nights. The swimming and snorkeling experiences are also not available during the after-hours event, with all waterways closed for the evening. The New Sloth Encounter Add-OnOne of the most distinctive new additions to the 2026 Paradise Nights is a premium sloth encounter available as a separately priced add-on. The Paradise Nights Sloth Encounter is priced at $59 per guest and includes priority check-in and a behind-the-scenes encounter with sloths. Availability is extremely limited, with only 10 guests per night, making advance booking essentially mandatory for anyone who wants to secure a spot. For guests who want the most exclusive, animal-focused version of the Paradise Nights experience, this add-on is the element that delivers it.What Has Changed From Summer 2018The 2026 version of Paradise Nights is a meaningfully different event from what Discovery Cove offered eight years ago, and guests who attended in 2018 should go in with updated expectations. The dolphin presentation is gone, the waterways are closed, and the focus has shifted from marquee animal encounters toward atmosphere, dining, cocktails, and live entertainment. The pricing reflects that shift as well, with adult admission starting at $117, up from $65 during the 2018 run, representing roughly a $50 increase over eight years. Child admission for guests aged 3 to 9 starts at $53, and infants 2 and under are free with a reservation.Credit: Discovery CoveImportant Logistics for Summer VisitorsOne of the most practical and appealing aspects of the 2026 Paradise Nights is the ability for daytime guests to stay through the evening without leaving the park. Guests who book both daytime admission and Paradise Nights on the same date can use onsite showers and changing rooms, check in at Guest Services near the main gift shop beginning at 5:30 p.m., and receive lanyards and table assignments for the evening without any gap in their Discovery Cove experience. The daytime Premium Drink Package does not carry over to Paradise Nights, so guests must purchase a separate evening package if they want upgraded beverage service beyond the included beer and wine.Paradise Nights is a capacity-controlled event with advance reservations strongly recommended; same-day availability is possible but not guaranteed. For summer visitors to Discovery Cove who want to experience both sides of what the park can offer, from the morning tropical immersion to the evening dining and entertainment, the window runs from June 5 through August 8 on select nights. The post After an 8 Year Hiatus, SeaWorld Is Reviving Its Most Popular Summer Event appeared first on Inside the Magic.
