In 2025, Malta ranked highest in employment rates for people aged 20 to 64, with the country recording the largest share of employed individuals in this category across the EU.Across the European Union, 76.1% of 20 to 64 year olds were employed during the year, while Malta led with an employment rate of 83.6%. The Netherlands and Czechia followed in second and third place, with rates of 83.4% and 82.9% respectively. At the lower end of the rankings, Italy, Romania and Greece recorded the lowest employment levels within this age group.
