Arnold Cassola, leader of Momentum, has addressed a letter to Prime Minister Robert Abela, Opposition leader Alex Borg, and the President of Valletta FC concerning the ongoing discussion over the club’s proposed football ground. In the letter, Cassola set out the benefits of building the ground in Marsa, instead of at the former power station site or on undeveloped land in Pembroke. He stated that although Valletta deserves a modern facility, the impact on residents in Pembroke must be carefully assessed.“There’s no doubt that the club of our capital city deserves a high level ground,” Cassola said, adding that residents of Pembroke and surrounding areas are already experiencing inconveniences from other projects. He pointed to the concentration of developments in the area, including major projects, schools, sports facilities, and the Chinese Embassy, insisting that “we can’t deprive them of the virgin land that is being sacrificed for a Valletta project.”Momentum instead proposed Marsa as a more suitable location, highlighting its already developed land, proximity to Valletta, potential for regeneration, and reduced traffic impact.Cassola concluded by describing it as “a win-win situation for everyone.”The full letter sent to Abela, Borg, and Valletta FC is available on Momentum’s website. What do you make of this?•
