Once completed, this road will provide new connectivity to GT Road from the main Sadar Bazaar and Mahesh Nagar areas of the cantonment, benefiting commuters. According to the plan, the new road will be approximately 550 meters long and 10 meters wide, extending from the Rangiya Mandi overbridge to GT Road. It will be built alongside the dedicated railway freight corridor. This road will prove to be a major facility for people in the future. Until now, people had to reach GT Road via Staff Road, but this new route will provide a direct path through the city.*IDTR and ATS institute to be built on 13 acres; ₹11.49 crore approved*Transport Minister Anil Vij said that approval has been granted by the state government to transfer land from the Municipal Council to the Transport Department for establishing the “Driving Training and Research Institute” (IDTR) and the “Automated Vehicle Testing Station” (ATS) in Shahpur, Ambala Cantonment. He informed that the institute will be set up on approximately 13 acres of land, for which ₹11.49 crore has already been approved by the state government. The establishment of this institute will generate employment opportunities for hundreds of people, both directly and indirectly, and will help further enhance the skills of thousands of trained youth.
