A group of Maltese performers in London are bringing their stories, culture and talent to the spotlight with a brand-new cabaret, and it’s a big moment for the community abroad.Led by Michela Agius, a Maltese musical theatre performer and singer-songwriter who has been based in London for the past six years, the project was born out of a desire to give visibility to Maltese artists navigating one of the world’s most competitive industries. After experiencing the London theatre scene first-hand, Michela felt a responsibility to create something that celebrates Maltese identity, especially in an industry where performers are often expected to blend in.The result is a brand-new Maltese cabaret, produced alongside Miriana Pavia and Matthew Cassar, set to take place at The Other Palace on 14th May.The performance explores the journeys of Maltese artists from the moment they moved to London to where they are today, highlighting both the challenges they’ve faced and the individuality that shapes them. At its core, the show is a celebration of identity, culture and the unique paths these performers have carved out abroad.Seven Maltese artists currently working in the UK musical theatre scene will feature in the cabaret, including Yandrick Agius, Laura Buhagiar, Hollie Cassar, Francesca Fenech, Paolo Micallef, Miriana Pavia and Michela Agius, with support from Janetha Stubbs.
