Designated Marksman Rifles continue to evolve, and the latest iteration from Steyr Arms was on display at IWA OutdoorClassics 2026. The Steyr DMR 762 sits squarely in the space between standard service rifles and dedicated sniper systems, built around the 7.62×51mm NATO cartridge. The optic is a Zero Compromise ZCO210, with a 2-10x magnification. What stands out immediately is the fully metallic construction (excluding the furniture, of course) and modular layout. The rifle uses a short-stroke gas piston system with adjustable settings, allowing it to be tuned for different ammunition types or suppressed use. The upper and free-floating handguard are designed to maintain consistency, with M-LOK interfaces and a full-length top rail supporting optics and accessories. The platform is offered in multiple barrel lengths, with an overall weight starting around 3.9 kg, and features a folding, adjustable stock for transport and adaptability in confined environments.
