Samsung Display has announced that UL Solutions has verified its QD-OLED panels for TVs and monitors under the QuantumView program, and that they have passed with flying colors in terms of viewing angles. As part of the QuantumView verification process, UL Solutions evaluates how a display’s luminance and color accuracy change as the viewing angle shifts from the front in 10-degree increments up to 60 degrees. In contrast, most LCD panels see a luminance drop below 20% and a color shift increase to as much as 0.025 at the same angle. In other words, Samsung Display’s QD-OLED panels deliver significantly higher brightness retention and notably lower color distortion than typical LCD panels when viewed off-axis.The company says these characteristics make its QD-OLED panels particularly well-suited for TVs, dual- or triple-monitor setups, and professional reference displays—scenarios where screens are often viewed from wide or multiple angles.Samsung Display’s Vice President and Head of the Large Display Marketing Team, Brad Jung, said, “Through QuantumView™ | Source: Abhijeet Mishra / SamMobile verification, we have objectively demonstrated that QD-OLED is a technology capable of delivering consistent image quality across a wide range of viewing environments. We will continue to expand collaboration with global brands and lead innovation in picture quality in the large-area OLED market.”
