Stroud Outbids Brown and Joorabchian For £880k Mehmas Colt At Donny

Wait 5 sec.

A son of Mehmas (lot 197) brought £880,000 from Stroud Coleman Bloodstock to seize the lead during the Goffs UK Breeze-Up Sale at Doncaster in the late afternoon. The half-brother to listed winner Hastalavistababy (Dandy Man) and the stakes-placed Mia Mento (Casamento) was consigned by Tally-Ho Stud, where his sire stands. The trio are out of the unraced Mia Divina (Exceed And Excel), herself a half-sister to four black-type horses led by G3 Italian 1000 Guineas heroine Mi Raccomando (Poet's Voice) and multiple stakes winner Mia Diletta (Selkirk), third at the group level in Italy.“He did a very good breeze, has a very good pedigree and we're all trying to buy an Ascot runner,” Anthony Stroud said. “He comes from Tally-Ho, who does a fantastic job. He just had the make and shape of what we're looking for in a breezer. Obviously it's a great deal of money and is a lot more than one would have liked to have spent. But that's the competition of the sales ring. Everyone wants to win so you have to stretch.”Asked whose colours the Mehmas colt would be carrying, Stroud responded, “I don't know. We just need to come up for some air. I anticipated that [price tag] and I am sure everyone else did, too, because Richard Brown was the underbidder and so was Kia – all the people you would expect to be bidding were there.”The Con Marnane-bred bay was a 70,000gns buy-back during Book 2 of the Tattersalls October Yearling Sale last autumn. The post Stroud Outbids Brown and Joorabchian For £880k Mehmas Colt At Donny appeared first on TDN | Thoroughbred Daily News | Horse Racing News, Results and Video | Thoroughbred Breeding and Auctions.
