President Donald Trump on Monday said the United States was continuing “large scale combat operations” in Iran and made his first public efforts at justifying his decision to unilaterally send American forces into battle without Congressional authorization, claiming the Iranian nuclear weapons and ballistic missile programs would have presented “a very clear, colossal threat to America” by shielding the former with the latter.
