The Economic Fighters League (EFL) has broken its silence following the conclusion of the Ayawaso East by-election, issuing a stern warning that the victory of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) does not signal an end to the “struggle for integrity”. In a press statement released on Tuesday, 3rd March 2026, the group acknowledged the election outcome while critiquing the systemic reliance on financial influence within Ghanaian democracy.The by-election, which was generally marked by a “low voter turnout”, was triggered by the death of the sitting Member of Parliament, Mahama Naser Toure, in January 2026.Led by Commander-in-Chief Ernesto Yeboah, the Fighters maintained that their opposition to the political status quo remains a matter of “principle, not personalities”.
