Germany boss backs Woltemade despite Newcastle struggles

Germany manager Julian Nagelsmann has backed Nick Woltemade despite the forward’s struggles at Newcastle.Woltemade joined Newcastle from Stuttgart in a £69m club-record deal last summer and enjoyed a bright start at St James’ Park, but has struggled for form in recent weeks.The German forward has been used in an unfamiliar midfield role of late and has failed to score in his last 11 league appearances.Woltemade has established himself as Germany’s leading forward in the build-up to the 2026 World Cup and Nagelsmann has emphasised his trust in the 24-year-old.
