India's peak power demand surged to nearly 239 GW on April 18, the highest this summer, driven by rising temperatures and increased cooling loads from air conditioners and agriculture. This figure surpasses last year's peak, and with heatwave conditions predicted, further electricity consumption increases are expected, with the power ministry projecting a peak demand of 271 GW this year.
