Silver offerings at Mata Vaishno Devi Shrine are not pure silver. Assayers found offerings contained only 5-6% silver, with the rest being toxic cadmium and iron. This discovery has raised alarm bells. The contaminated metal is worth significantly less than expected. Authorities have been alerted but no action has been documented yet.
