The Parliament of Uganda was yesterday thrown into shock following the devastating news of the passing of Hon. Hellen Nakimuli, who died after a failed surgical procedure.The sad announcement was made by the National Unity Platform (NUP) President, Robert Kyagulanyi Ssentamu, popularly known as Bobi Wine, through his social media platforms. Hon. Nakimuli was a dedicated member of the NUP who served as the Shadow Minister for Information and also served as the captain of the Parliament Volleyball Team.Her body underwent a postmortem examination today at Mulago Hospital. Meanwhile, the official send-off program has been released by the Leader of Opposition and NUP spokesperson, Hon. Joel Ssenyonyi.Hon. Hellen Nakimuli, fondly known as “Mama Kalangala,” was widely respected for her strong voice and active participation in the August House. A requiem mass will take place at Namugoona Orthodox Church, followed by her final interment in Luweero.Monday, 20th: The cortege will depart for Kalangala via Nakiwogo, Entebbe. The ferry is scheduled to leave at 2:00 PM.Tuesday: A special district council session will be held by the local government, followed by a public viewing in Kalangala.Wednesday: Parliamentary tribute and vigil. The late MP will lie in state at Parliament for official tributes, followed by honors at the NUP headquarters.
