PN Announces Six New Candidates Ahead Of General Election

The Nationalist Party has approved six new candidates following a meeting of its executive committee at Dar Ċentrali, continuing its preparations for the next general election.The party said that three of the candidates will be contesting a general election for the first time, as it seeks to balance experience with new faces. The latest approvals bring the total number of confirmed PN candidates to 34.Opposition Leader Alex Borg thanked the candidates during the meeting, while noting that the selection process remains ongoing.“The PN’s team of candidates includes new faces, others who have already contested with the PN in previous elections, women and young people, as well as a number of Gozitan candidates,” the party said.John Baptist Camilleri – Third DistrictAn aviation engineer and Marsascala local councillor, where he serves as minority leader, Camilleri will contest the third district.Ray Gatt – Third DistrictA prominent orthopaedic consultant described by party insiders as one of the PN’s “star” candidates, Gatt will contest the third district for the first time.Stefan Caruana – Fourth DistrictA teacher and the PN’s executive organisational secretary, Caruana will contest the fourth district. He previously contested in the 2022 general election.Angelo Micallef – Eighth DistrictA lawyer and mayor of Balzan, Micallef will run in the eighth district. He has also contested in the past two general elections.Jonathan Muscat – Ninth DistrictLawyer Jonathan Muscat will be contesting a general election for the first time in the ninth district.Rachel Williams – Twelfth DistrictA law student and iGaming sector worker, Williams currently serves on the St Paul’s Bay local council.
