I work as a 911 dispatcher and one thing that still flabbergasts me is the number of people who leave for a road trip with no gas and no money for gas. A lot of times they have kids and pets with them. They get stranded on the highway, don’t know anyone in the area who could help them out, and don’t have money for either gas or a tow truck. And they’re trying to get to a town three states away. I always wonder what, exactly, they thought was going to happen when they inevitably ran out of fuel? I take calls like this probably 3 times a week. Surely they can’t all be grifters, but they definitely aren’t forward-thinking, functioning adults. The lady in OP’s post is for suuuure a scammer, though.
