Daryl Dike’s first goal of the EFL Championship season came at a vital time for West Bromwich Albion. Dike came off the bench to score the Baggies’ second goal in Saturday’s 2-0 road victory over Preston North End at Deepdale. The result moved James Morrison’s side five points clear of the relegation zone with three matches left to play. Josh Maja propelled the visitors in front 1-0 after 11 minutes, giving West Brom a rare lead away from home. Dike entered the match in the 70th minute and wasted little time in sealing the result for West Brom. West Brom would hang on for all three points, giving them a strong chance of remaining in the EFL Championship for next season. Fellow American player George Campbell played the full 90 minutes in defense as West Brom registered its three-consecutive clean sheet. West Brom will next host Watford at the Hawthorns on Tuesday before finishing the league season against Ipswich Town and Sheffield Wednesday respectively.
