talkSPORT betting tips – Best racing bets and expert advice at Ayr and Newbury

Wait 5 sec.

Almost all of the major Grand Nationals have been and gone this season, including the big one at Aintree last weekend, but it’s Scotland’s turn this week. Saturday’s main event is the £200,000 Scottish Grand National from Ayr and it’s shaping up to be an absolute cracker.Don’t forget about the top-drawer Flat racing on offer at Newbury too, as there are three Group 3s taking place, including a couple of Guineas trials which will hopefully be informative. The Dubai Duty Free Finest Surprise Stakes has attracted a good field, too. With some thoroughly competitive action on the agenda, finding winners won’t be easy. Fear not, though, as our expert has a trio of selections across the afternoon.talkSPORT BET welcome offer – Get up to £35 matched if your first bet losesSaturday horse racing tips14:00 Newbury – Albert Einstein @ 85/40 14:35 Newbury – Pride Of Arras @ 11/4 15:35 Ayr – Quebecois @ 7/1 14:00 Newbury – Albert Einstein @ 85/40 Aidan O’Brien is rarely wrong and he has always been very complimentary about Albert Einstein, who started off with a smooth success in a Naas maiden over 6f in May and the form is solid enough. The son of Wootton Bassett stepped up in grade to contest the Group 3 Marble Hill Stakes at the Curragh next and he did extremely well to maintain his unbeaten record. Keen enough early on, he didn’t get the smoothest of passages but quickened well once the gap opened.Injury led to him missing the rest of the campaign and he made his seasonal reappearance in a Listed contest over this trip at the Curragh last month. He was pretty flat on that occasion but was entitled to need the run and is surely capable of much better.14:35 Newbury – Pride Of Arras @ 11/4Ralph Beckett’s Pride Of Arras developed into a smart Group performer last term, despite the fact that he struggled at the top level. There are plenty of races like this on the calendar for four-year-olds and he looks well set to thrive in 2026, as he remains lightly raced.Only running once as a two-year-old, he was an impressive winner over a mile maiden at Sandown in August 2024. He showed signs of greenness that day but still had plenty in hand. The second and third both managed to win races later that season. The son of New Bay defied a lengthy absence to win the Dante Stakes at York 280 days later and he got the better of subsequent dual Group 3 winner Damysus on that occasion. Beating the English and Irish Derby winner in the Great Voltigeur, he should be winning this. 15:35 Ayr – Quebecois @ 7/1 Paul Nicholls hasn’t had the greatest of seasons by his own high standards but he has had some decent winners throughout, including in the Midlands Grand National. The Ditcheat-based trainer could land the Scottish Grand National with Quebecois.Nicholls won this race in consecutive years with Vicente in 2016 and 2017, so he knows what it takes, and progressive novice Quebecois could be well suited by the marathon trip. It’s also worth noting that he won a novice handicap hurdle at this meeting last year.It has taken him a little while to start showing his full potential over fences but he put in a cracking performance to finish third by a narrow margin in the Ultima at Cheltenham last time out. He can build on that performance and hopefully the best is yet to come.talkSPORT BET welcome offer – Get up to £35 matched if your first bet losesVisit talkSPORT BET for all the latest horse racing betting odds*all odds correct at time of writing and subject to change*18+ New Customers.
