A 22-year-old Serbian man has been arrested after allegedly attempting to carry out a drug handover just metres away from St Julian’s police station.The motorist reportedly caught the attention of Drug Squad officers on patrol on Sunday due to suspicious behaviour, repeatedly picking up individuals, driving short distances and dropping them off shortly after.Police continued monitoring the vehicle as it picked up another man in Triq San Ġorġ before stopping directly opposite the police station as reported by Times of Malta.A search of the car revealed a drug sachet that was allegedly about to be passed to the passenger, leading to the driver’s immediate arrest.The man was arraigned in court on Monday, where he pleaded not guilty to drug possession. No request for bail was made.The prosecution was led by Police Inspector Francesco Mizzi along with lawyer Nadia Ciappara from the Attorney General’s office, while lawyers Shazoo Ghaznavi and Jessica Formosa appeared for the defence.•
