U needed to listen to understand, not listen to respond. cats were a welcome addition to homestead life. the people who had them to protect their grain stores could care less about all the birds you just mentioned...they cared about the field mice and rats eating their grain....who the cats fed upon. only when there is not a ready supply of rodents near said granary would they have looked for prey elsewhere. someone asked why we don't eat cats....u responded with why 'cats are bad'...don't u see how that just doesn't follow the conversation? like....just lol.
