My neighbor asked me to "watch her dog for a few hours" and it turned into a 3 day situation

Wait 5 sec.

So my neighbor Sarah has a medium sized golden mix, super sweet dog, no issues with the dog itself. About two weeks ago she knocked on my door around noon and asked if I could watch him for "just a few hours" while she ran some errands. I like the dog, I was home, I said sure. She dropped him off with half a bag of food and a leash. No other info, no vet contact, nothing. By 8pm she hadn't come back. I texted her, she said she was "running a little late" and would be back soon. By midnight I texted again and she said something came up and she'd get him in the morning. Okay . Fine. I set up a little area for him and went to bed. Next morning, nothing. I texted again around 10am. She said she was dealing with "a situation" and would be there by afternoon. Afternoon came and went. That evening she finally responded to say she was out of town and would be back the day after tomorrow, and thanked me for being such a great neighbor. I was not told I was dog sitting for three days. I had plans that second day that I had to rearrange. I had to buy more food because she hadn't left enough. When she finally came to pick him up she brought me a candle as thanks and said "I knew you wouldn't mind." I did not say I wouldn't mind. I said I'd watch him for a few hours. Those are different things. The candle smells nice though. submitted by /u/Prism_Naught [link] [comments]
