Tomodachi Life: Living the Dream reviewed by Logan Plant on Nintendo Switch 2, also available on Nintendo SwitchTomodachi Life: Living the Dream is a deeply funny and equally personal civilization simulator. It is genuinely hilarious to create cartoonish renditions of your friends, family members, celebrities, and favorite characters and mix them all together just to see what absurd situations unfold. They’ll fall in love, get into fights, and say completely unhinged things that remain endearing dozens of hours later, even if its somewhat repetitive nature reveals itself well before that point. Where Living the Dream loses me is its extreme sharing restrictions. It’s beyond frustrating that there’s essentially no way to directly share Miis, custom creations, or even simple screenshots online, which is an enormous downgrade from the 3DS version. If you’re not good at designing complex characters or just get bored of it after a while, it can feel frustrating and isolating. Tomodachi Life: Living the Dream hands you the keys to a unique, quirky paradise that rewards your creativity and directly reflects your personality – I just wish I could enjoy it with my friends.
