CHAPTER 2She could stop to think about it. She couldn’t believe that the woman whom she adored could turn out this way. They’ve only been in a relationship for around 2 months and it was too soon for the sudden change. Freda would have never believed if she was told her relationship with her girlfriend, Anita, would go the way of England’s masculinity. All she had left in her relationship was pain, regret and abuse. Sometimes, Freda gets overwhelmed with emotions that she wants to strangle Anita to death with the last strength in her body.Anita was pretty older than Freda, she was the kind of lady with the tomboy vibe, tough, strong and has a very masculine appearance. It was her vibe that got Freda in the first place, beginning the seemingly perfect relationship, until Freda was left feeling she had to walk on eggshells. Freda had moved in together with her, and since the abuse started, she had made a lot of effort to leave but Anita had threatened to find her and hurt her if she ran away from her. Freda knew Anita was aggressive right from the start, but she had promised her that she would never hit a woman. After all, everyone lies.Freda thought she had seen it all, not until Anita’s ex, Portia, surfaced in their relationship. Freda felt Anita constantly playing her off against her ex, running between them when she wanted things and lying about it. Anita criticized me and blamed everything that went wrong in our relationship on her — if she was more fun if she was less of a nag if she was more accepting, if she was thinner — she could commit to her and they could be happy. One afternoon, Freda had an anonymous tip from an unknown sending her pictures of Anita and Portia making out at a night event Anita went to last night. The anger and pain that filled her heart were intense like the cyclone that took Dorothy to Oz. This was when she realized she had had enough. She tried to remain calm for Anita to get back from wherever she had gone to.A few hours later, the front door opened, as Anita made her way in, calling out to Freda.“Hey babe, I’m back. What food did you make?”There was no answer. Anita was curious because it was odd. She went to the living room and realized Freda was sitting down quiet, scrutinizing her with a piercing gaze.“I called you. Are you dumb now or something?” she said to Freda. “do you have any food in the kitchen?” she added and Freda gave a reluctant nodding.Freda was watching her as she made her way to the kitchen, and couldn’t keep quiet again but to break her silence.“Where were you last night?” Freda asked with so much pain, which was quite obvious.“Why? I was at the club I told you to come along …and you refused.” Anita answered.“With who?” Freda quickly asked when Anita finished her statement.“Portia! Hey bitch, what’s all these?” Anita asked rudely.Freda showed her the pictures and it was epic the rage in Freda’s eyes that met with the shock in that of Anita’s.Anita pinned Freda up against a wall and punched her in the face and mouth twice, Freda crumbled and her phone fell, breaking her screen.“You’ve been stalking me err? Bitch, how dare you?” Anita spoke in rage.“I am sorry. I am sorry!” Freda tearfully apologized constantly.Anita kept hitting her with her leg, till she got tired. Anita took a deep breath, and then helped scare Freda up from the ground. She then hugged Freda and she said.“You know I love you. You should just stop making me angry. Don’t think about leaving me. I know you can’t. You are naive and innocent and not half as street-smart as me, you need me to protect you.”Freda knew then that she had to leave, there was no respect for her feelings. But she was also scared Anita was physically going to hurt her when she realizes she wanted to leave. Anita was ill, but it took Freda over two months in their relationship, that day that she couldn’t fix her.
