There's speculation circulating that Samsung may make a significant upgrade to storage speeds on the Galaxy S27, at least on some models. The company may equip these devices with faster UFS 5.0 storage chips which would deliver insanely fast transfer speeds compared to the current UFS 4.0 standard supported by the Galaxy S26 series.Not all models may get UFS 5.0 The rumor emerges from South Korea, claiming that UFS 5.0 storage chips may be utilized for some of the Galaxy S27 models. One would certainly expect the top-of-the-line Galaxy S27 to have it. There's also the possibility that the Galaxy S27 Pro gets it as well.Recent reports have suggested that Samsung might launch four models in the Galaxy S27 series. This means the Galaxy S27, S27+ and Galaxy S27 Ultra may be accompanied by a Galaxy S27 Pro that would basically be an Ultra without the S Pen.If this rumor is accurate, then it's possible that Samsung only provides UFS 5.0 storage on the Galaxy S27 Pro and Ultra models, while the two lower-tier models stick with UFS 4.0 or get upgraded to UFS 4.1. Storage chips are expensive and with component prices where they are right now, it wouldn't be surprising if the Galaxy S27 series doesn't go all UFS 5.0.The rumor further mentions that basic storage configurations won't be changed. Thus the base Galaxy S27 would still offer 128GB while the upper-tier models would offer 256GB of internal storage as a minimum. UFS 5.0 will be a big step up from UFS 4.0 which is where the Galaxy S26 series is right now. The new standard is twice as fast, with topline sequential read and write speeds of up to 10.8GB/s, compared to 4.2GB/s of UFS 4.0.
