The CJI specified that barring extraordinary situations, matters requiring urgent hearing would be listed automatically. The process of oral mentioning, however, has continued on one pretext or the other. On Monday, when lawyers mentioned urgent matters before a vacation bench led by the CJI, an exasperated Chief Justice Kant remarked, “This culture of mentioning is difficult to be stopped, no?”Outnumbered againTHE Congress leadership is unhappy with two of its MPs who skipped the meeting of the Parliamentary Committee on Rural Development and Panchayati Raj on Monday. The agenda of the meeting was MGNREGA — a matter the Congress is working to make its next big plank across India. The party was particularly unhappy with the MP who had suggested the committee should discuss MGNREGA, but was missing from the meeting. BJP members outnumbered the Opposition as several non-BJP MPs skipped the meeting, said sources. The BJP high command had instructed its members to ensure good attendance at Monday’s meeting, the sources said.VIP AddressBJP national working president Nitin Nabin is set to move into a government bungalow on Sunehri Bagh Road where one of his neighbours is likely to be Leader of Opposition Rahul Gandhi. This comes even as another VIP, former vice-president Jagdeep Dhankhar, is yet to be allotted a bungalow.
