Malta is ringing the end of the year with stormy weather, as thunderstorms hit the islands overnight, bringing a wet close to 2025.In the early morning of New Year’s Eve, the day kicked off with a storm which brought torrential rain, thunder and even hail in some localities.Wednesday 31st December is seeing thundery showers, with temperatures feeling like 16°C, a high of 16°C and a low of 10°C. Winds are blowing from the north-west at force 4 to 5, later shifting to north-east at force 2 to 3, while UV levels remain low.The unsettled conditions are set to continue into Thursday 1st January, with showers expected throughout the day. Temperatures will feel slightly cooler at 15°C, ranging between 15°C and 10°C, with easterly winds at force 3 to 4, turning south-east later on.By Friday 2nd January, things are expected to calm down, with partly cloudy skies and milder conditions. Temperatures will feel like 17°C, peaking at 17°C and dipping to 12°C, accompanied by south-westerly winds at force 3 to 5.After a stormy night and a wet start to the new year, calmer weather looks set to slowly make a return.How are you spending your New Years?Photo credits to Brian Fenech•
