Mentioning that he and Sindhu have been living separately for the past two years, Manu revealed recently that their divorce case is currently under the court’s consideration.“My wife and I are currently separated. We are not legally divorced yet, though. The chances of us reuniting are very slim. There is no point in saying that we fell in love and began a life together after that; so many people who loved and lived together more than we did have ended up parting ways. At least until two or three years ago, we were in love and together. It doesn’t take much time for all this to happen,” he shared during a conversation with Movie World Media. Manu Varma is the son of veteran character actor Jagannatha Varma (late) and the cousin of eminent ad filmmaker Prakash Varma, who recently made a majestic acting debut in director Tharun Moorthy’s blockbuster Mohanlal-Shobana starrer Thudarum (2025).Also Read | Rajinikanth’s lost love, the woman whose Rs 500 gave wings to his acting dreams: ‘She vanished one day’Manu added, “When the compatibility is no longer there, it is better to live apart. There is no need to struggle and live together. What if problems escalate while living together? Why do that? Isn’t it like that in foreign countries? Moreover, even after separating, people there maintain a friendship; it would be good if that came here too. However, if that happens, perhaps divorces might increase. There is nothing wrong with separated people maintaining a friendship. That is not how it is in Kerala, though. Once people part ways, they are ready to tear each other apart if they meet again, right?”Mentioning that they have three children together, Manu noted that their eldest is in the US, working as an IT engineer, while the second one is in Bengaluru. “Our third is a daughter; she is a child with health issues,” he added.ICYMI | Spirit poster: A wounded alpha, a compliant heroine, the familiar Vanga-sized misogyny, has he made it his trademark?Renowned for his performances in soap operas like Kadamattathu Kathanar, Pookkalam Varavayi, and Kumkumacheppu, Manu Varma has also appeared in a handful of movies, including Mammootty’s Neelagiri and Jayaram’s Naranathu Thampuran.
