Two Brazilian miners die in landslide at Chenapou Gold Mine

 Tragedy struck a gold mining site in the North Pakaraimas earlier this week when two Brazilian miners were killed after a section of sand collapsed inside a pit.Police confirmed that the incident occurred at “S” Bend Backdam, Chenapou. The victims have been identified as 37-year-old Cleumiton Da Silva Santos and 44-year-old Antonio Filho.Preliminary investigations indicate that both men were working inside the mining pit when a sudden sand collapse trapped them. Other miners in the area reportedly managed to escape without injury, but Santos and Filho were retrieved motionless from the pit.Owing to the remote location of the site, the bodies remain at “S” Bend Backdam while arrangements are made to transport them to Mahdia District Hospital.
