The Chikkamagaluru district administration has banned tourists from visiting tourist attractions in the district, including hill stations, between 6 p.m on December 31 and 6 a.m. on January 1. This is a precautionary measure to avoid untoward incidents during New Year celebrations.Deputy Commissioner Meena Nagaraj C.N. on December 29 issued the order banning tourists from visiting Mullayyanagiri, Seethalayyanagiri, Manikyadhara, Zhari Falls, Honnammanahalla, Galikere, Hirekolale Kere, Diamond Falls in Chikkamagaluru taluk, Ethina Bhuja, Devaramane, Rani Zhari, Ballalarayana Durga, Bandaje Falls, Kudige Falls in Mudigere taluk, Kyatanamaki, Dudrapada, Hanging Bridge,Abbugudige Fallsin Kalasa taluk, Ayyanakere, Madagada Kere in Kadur taluk, Kemmannugundi, Kallathagiri and Hebbe Falls in Tarikere taluk.However, tourists who have booked rooms at homestays and resorts on the way to these tourist places are allowed to travel to their destinations The Deputy Commissioner issued the order as per the recommendation of the district police.Published - December 30, 2025 06:27 pm IST
