IJRiShares Core S&P Small Cap ETFBATS:IJRA3MInvestmentsThere are two main ETFs in small-cap stocks: IWM and $IJR. What's the difference? IWM Tracks the Russell 2000 Index. This is the most popular broad-market instrument in the small-cap segment. It includes stocks ranked 1001st through 3000th by market capitalization in the US, with no strict profitability requirements. IJR Tracks the S&P SmallCap 600 Index. Uses a "quality filter." To be included in the index, a company must be profitable (have positive earnings for the past four quarters). The IWM typically has a higher weighting in healthcare (due to smaller biotechs), while the IJR has a higher weighting in industrials and financials.
