(Photo: Karan Johar/Instagram)Karan Johar’s Dharma Productions has had a difficult 2025. While the production house’s film Homebound has been shortlisted at the Oscars, box office success has eluded them this year. They released Kesari Chapter 2, Dhadak 2, Sunny Sanskari Ki Tulsi Kumari and Tu Meri Main Tera Main Tera Tu Meri theatrically, and none of these films managed to be a standout success at the box office. Kartik Aaryan and Ananya Panday’s Tu Meri Main Tera Main Tera Tu Meri is in deep trouble at the moment as the film has received mediocre reviews, and has tanked at the box office. Amid this crisis, Karan Johar took to social media to remind people about “grace”.He shared a long note on Instagram where he wrote, “Grace… Is this now an alien phenomenon? Have we as a race completely lost our ability to be good old fashioned graceful?” Karan added, “Have we lost the grace to reply to messages and emails… Or if we do reply then can we not reply in monosyllables?” The filmmaker then asked, “Are we not able to celebrate other people’s successes and can we stop celebrating their failures? Can we praise wholeheartedly and can we criticise without bias, anger and rage… Can we stop making social media a dumping ground of our own failings, shortcomings or inner darkness… Can we go back to just being kind at all times and not taking our own rotten mood out of the house?”ALSO READ | Bollywood 2025: Violent men, silent women, and sequels nobody asked for – a year-end report cardAt a recent book launch, Karan Johar praised Dhurandhar with all his heart as he said, “I was, like, blown away by Dhurandhar; it makes you feel like, ‘Oh, my craft is limited. Oh my god, look at the use of background music.’ What I loved about Dhurandhar was that I didn’t feel that the director was self-aware. I felt like he wasn’t trying to show off his craft, and yet he was seamlessly telling you the story. I never felt he went wide or he went like, ‘I am going to show you a great frame.’ I felt it was beautifully shot without self-awareness. It made me question my ability as a filmmaker, and that’s always a good thing for me. I look at that through a positive lens.”Tu Meri Main Tera Main Tera Tu Meri released during the Dhurandhar wave at the box office, and could not make a mark. In another chat with Curly Tales, Kartik Aaryan had revealed that the film was previously scheduled for Valentines Day 2026, but was rescheduled for Christmas 2025.Earlier in the year, Karan Johar’s film Nadaaniyan was also widely criticised for its actors. The film marked the debut of Ibrahim Ali Khan. At one point, Karan said that the film was watched for the “wrong reasons” and told Suchin Mehrotra on his YouTube channel, “There were YouTube creators and content creators who were making four videos on it, you made one, right? You know you’re getting the hits again and again, because bashing Nadaaniyan was like the fashion of that moment. It was really making people kind of go and watch your YouTube video and they were enjoying it. It was celebrated negatively and that does happen sometimes.”Click here to follow Screen Digital on YouTube and stay updated with the latest from the world of cinema.© IE Online Media Services Pvt Ltd
