In a recent interaction, writer Rumy Jafry shared unheard anecdotes highlighting Big B’s professionalism, revealing how the veteran actor paid for his own chartered flight and hotel during the shoot of Chehre in Poland and even waived off his fees for the film.Lauding Amitabh Bachchan’s professionalism while speaking to Chanda Kochhar, Rumy said, “No one is more disciplined, committed, dedicated actor in this industry that Amitabh Bachchan and there never will be. He stays true to his work, even new actor trouble you sometimes, but he respects directors, writers a lot. He never questions them. He remembered that he and producer Anand Pandit were nervous about discussing fees with the superstar, wondering how much Amitabh Bachchan would charge for the film. However, when they finally met him, both were left surprised by his gesture. “It is an awkward moment when you talk about money with an actor. When we went inside, we chatted with him for sometime, and the breakfast at his house is very desi and good – dal moth, samosa, kachori, and all these things.”‘Was worried about awkward meeting with Amitabh Bachchan’He added, “Amitabh Bachchan told us ‘I have called you only to say one thing that I won’t charge any money for this film.’ Me and Anand bhai both were shocked. He said I don’t want the burden of my fees on this film. Anand bhai insisted a lot at that time for him to take the fees and he kept insisting for months. Listening to Big B, I had tears in my eyes.”Rishi Kapoor warned against taking Big B to Poland in wintersRumy also recalled shooting with Amitabh Bachchan in Poland in the month of December for the film. He revealed that he was warned by late actor Rishi Kapoor against taking Amitabh to Poland during winters, when the temperature drops drastically. “When we were leaving, I got a call from Rishi Kapoor who asked me, ‘Are you going to Poland in December to shoot with Bachchan Sahaab? Do you have anything against him?’ I told him how can you say that but he told me ‘you don’t know how cold it gets in Poland in December.’ He said even Hitler lost the battle in Poland in winters.”Big B shot in -70 degree, paid for his own hotel and chartered flightSharing further details, Rumy said that Amitabh Bachchan, who was around 78-79 years old at the time, shot for the film in extreme weather conditions, with temperatures dipping as low as -70 degrees. “When we reached the set it was -70. The production team still makes a hut with heaters and we wear warm clothes, but Amitabh Bachchan had to wear the clothes that continued from his previous scene. He shot wearing those clothes in -70.”He further added, “Amitabh came to the shoot in chartered plane and went back by chartered plane. He paid for the plane and the hotel from his own credit card.
