Four returning after birthday, NY celebrations killed in Kullu accident

They were returning to Kullu when their speeding vehicle hit a roadside parapet and rammed into a parked truck around 2.40 am.The impact was so severe that the vehicle was completely mangled, killing three of the occupants, including Satpal, on the spot, officials said. One of the victims, who was alive when she was taken to the local hospital, succumbed to her injuries.The victims were identified as — car driver Satpal (25) of Kullu, Ankita (20) of Udaipur village in Lahaul and Spiti district, Kashish (20) of subtehsil Jari in Kullu, and Ratanjali alias Ruchi (20) of Bhuntar in Kullu. All the occupants had to be pulled out of the wreckage using iron rods.Ratanjali was initially rushed to the Regional Hospital in Kullu and later referred to AIIMS Bilaspur, where doctors declared her dead on arrival.Superintendent of Police Madan Lal Kaushal said that an FIR has been registered at Kullu police station and the exact cause of the accident is being investigated.The bodies would be handed over to the family members of the deceased after a postmortem.Stay updated with the latest - Click here to follow us on Instagram© The Indian Express Pvt Ltd
