Perry was braced near the exit hatch for the whole last part of the trip as Dirk guided them down into the crevasse next to the quarry. They’d swung around and approached from the opposite direction of the railway, low to the ground, the better to hide from where Queenie had been last time. The ship was moving about as fast as it could without breaking apart, and it was clear that Dirk had some experience with it, something that must have happened in the long time before they’d come to the Dusklands. The landing was smooth, with barely a jolt, and Perry stopped holding his breath, exiting out the door as soon as the ship was down.There was, perhaps, an argument for waiting until further repairs had been done to the ship, or for recruiting more of Amanaco’s people to help with the fight, but no one had seriously voiced the opinion that they should do that, not when Queenie was so close to getting a huge boost for her machine.
