Potterheads are set to receive yet another new Harry Potter theme park, with plans for the new attraction making it the biggest indoor attraction to date.The Harry Potter fandom is one of the largest and most dedicated in the world, with generations of Potterheads selling out millions of books and movie tickets over the decades. While its creator remains endlessly controversial, the franchise itself has built a cultural legacy that extends far beyond its original stories, having inspired multiple Harry Potter theme park attractions across the globe.Credit: UniversalHarry Potter Casts A Spell on Theme ParksAt Universal, The Wizarding World of Harry Potter offers fans the opportunity to step directly into the world seen onscreen.With lands located at Universal parks in Orlando, Hollywood, Japan, and Beijing, some of the iconic locations recreated in real life include Hogwarts Castle, the bustling streets of Diagon Alley, the snow-capped rooftops of Hogsmeade, and the formidable Gringotts Bank – complete with a fire-breathing dragon.As of May 2025, guests are also able to step into the Ministry of Magic – plus roam the streets of Paris as seen in the doomed spinoff series that was Fantastic Beasts and Where To Find Them – at Universal’s newest theme park, Epic Universe. The first is Warner Bros. Studio Tour London – The Making of Harry Potter, a behind-the-scenes experience at Warner Bros. Studio TourYet another new Harry Potter theme park has been confirmed, replicating the studio tour experience for a third time in Shanghai.Jinjiang International has struck a deal with Warner Bros. (which licenses out its theme park rights to Universal, meaning it technically doesn’t consider its studio tours as “theme parks”) to give visitors a glimpse at the moviemaking magic behind the Harry Potter films.This will reportedly be even bigger than the 30,000-square-meter experience in Tokyo – which was widely reported to be the world’s biggest indoor Harry Potter theme park – covering an area of over 53,000 square meters.The project is part of a large-scale renovation of a Shanghai theme park operated by Jinjiang. Studio Tour TokyoShanghai’s tourism scene has exploded in recent years, with Disney – Universal’s biggest theme park rival – debuting Shanghai Disneyland in 2016.
