President Irfaan Ali has set an ambitious tone for 2026, pledging continued economic growth, expanded public services and opportunities for all Guyanese as the nation moves confidently into a new chapter of its development.In his New Year’s address, the President extended greetings to citizens at home, on the rivers and in the hinterland, those on duty guarding borders or caring for the sick and to Guyanese across the diaspora. He framed 2026 as a year not just of hope, but of action and tangible progress for communities across the country.Reflecting on 2025, Ali highlighted the strides made in improving daily life: new schools and modern classrooms, increased access to clean water, strengthened household incomes, upgraded hospitals, safer streets, and broader opportunities for women, youth, pensioners, and persons with disabilities. Infrastructure developments, including the Demerara River Bridge, were cited as symbols of a nation more connected and committed to progress.“The story of Guyana is no longer one of potential alone,” Ali said. “It is written in the language of progress made real, of opportunity seized, of a nation stepping confidently into its moments.”Looking ahead, the President outlined plans for 2026 that focus on ensuring that economic growth translates directly into improved livelihoods.
